True Blessing

We chase after many things, always in a hurry - off to some destination. We hear of blessings and the grace of God in other believer's lives. We measure blessing in terms of prosperity. We think we did something right and therefore the blessing.

But oh... first of all, the grace or mercy of God is not deserved. Blessing does not always constitute wealth as many believe. Money may buy you a farm, palace or even an island, but it can never be a replacement for the true blessing.

Who does Jesus say is blessed?

Luke 6 from verse 21:

"Blessed are you who hunger and seek with eager desire now, for you shall be filled and completely satisfied! Blessed are you who weep and sob now, for you shall laugh!

Blessed are you when people despise you, and when they exclude and excommunicate you and revile and denounce you and defame and cast out and spurn your name as evil on account of the Son of Man.

Rejoice and be glad at such a time and exult and leap for joy, for behold, your reward is rich and great and strong and intense and abundant in heaven; for even so their forefathers treated the prophets.

But woe to you who are rich, for you already are receiving your consolation and have taken and enjoyed your comfort in full.

Woe to you who are full now, for you shall hunger and suffer want! Woe to you who laugh now, for you shall mourn and weep and wail!

Woe to you when everyone speaks fairly and handsomely of you and praises you, for even so their forefathers did to the false prophets."

The Word also tells us to first seek the kingdom of God and his will. This is seated in Jesus. Do not measure blessing according to this world , but rather according to God 's standards.

If you battle to see God's mercies and grace and blessings - just look at the sun rising - shining upon your face - that is blessing. You are alive - it is a blessing. God calls us His children - a blessing. He leads us through His Spirit - blessing.

Let us search for heavenly treasures.
