Loosing a Friendship

We make many friendships during our life time. Some friendships are very special and we treasure these. However, should we fail to care for a friend, the friendship becomes stale. It may cause deep hurt when someone you trust, starts to cut the ties. This may even be without any explanation. You call, try to reach out and eventually stand aside. Since nobody wants to be at a place where they are not welcome, you might leave. You will most probably wait for that person to show interest in you and will gladly accept the person back, if he or she proves to be sincere. Should the person take too long to return your friendship, you might even search for another person to be your friend.

Before we go on - you might be the person who cuts the ties for several reasons: lost interest, became too busy, became self orientated or simply forgot what a great friend you have. One day you realize you miss that person and the search starts. The person might be so hurt, that he or she needs a while to trust you again.

The same applies to the Holy Spirit. He is very sensitive and wants to be your friend. Should you ignore Him, He'll just wait, unless you keep doing it. He will then become silent. He is a true friend and will not force Himself on you, nor will He force you to listen or do anything you don't want to. He will guide you in the right direction, show you Jesus, fill you with joy and peace, but only if you let Him. He will not leave you, but He is gentle and if you keep hurting Him, He becomes silent. Only when you stop looking at yourself will you be able to hear and feel His gentle presence.

He will stand aside, until you are willing to follow His guidance. Rest assured, He will always guide you in the footsteps of Jesus.
