When the pain becomes so terribly unbearable
And the dark clouds gather speed
When the light of hope dwindles
I hope I'll have enough wisdom to
take my pains to the Lord
When I have come to the end of my rope
And there is still such a distance to climb
In a tunnel so dark and treacherous
I hope when I come to the end of my wits
I will have used them wisely enough
to know that the lord has a rope longer
than my own and wits greater than the universe
So when it all becomes incredibly overpowering
Look not to your means and lean not on your strengths
Stop relying on your feet and rely on a shoulder
so strong and vast that it carries the universe.
Hold on to a hand so gentle and skilled that
it guides the seas to run their tortuous course
without so much as a slip or an error.
Look unto this giant and put all your troubles unto him
He will walk and climb the steepest mountains for you
If you take it to the lord in prayer
